Assistant Director, U.S. SPORTS FILM FESTIVAL Bid City Process
The U.S. Sports Film Festival (USSFF) is the only annual U.S. comprehensive film festival and conference dedicated exclusively to sports films and business related to sports and film including such programs as a Sports and Entertainment Continuing Legal Education Program, Sports Film Casting events and Sports Making a Difference in Society Film programs etc. The four day festival debuted successfully in Philadelphia in October 2008 and had several marquee sponsors, media partners and professional sports teams in support of the USSFF. The USSFF is in a process of selecting the City that will become the USSFF`s permanent annual home and is currently being courted by several U.S. cities. The USSFF has an opening for an initially volunteer part-time individual to support the Festival Director who is managing the Bid City process with the outside consulting agency in various tasks including management of the process, production of documents and communication with Board of Advisors. This bid city process is expected to culminate in January, and there may be paid position opportunities with Festival going forward from there which the Assistant Director will be given priority, if qualified. While Film, Film Festival and sports industry experience are valued and welcome in this position, the more important key requirements are 1) management of process and people experience 2) verbal and written communication skills and 3) relentless follow-up on tasks. For the most part, this is a 5-10 hour a week commitment with some periods where it is a bit more. The position will report directly to the Bid Committee Head and/or the Chairman of Board, but periodically will work closely with Vice Chairman and/or other Board Members in contributing towards taking this successful grass roots event to the next level. The USSFF has strong support from sponsors and a marquee Board of Advisers of sports and film industry executives and celebrities. Candidate will have access to an extended team of executives, lawyers and industry professionals who contribute time and effort to the USSFF property. Preference is for New York City based professional, though will consider others.
